  18. Section 1 - Using GBase
  19. =======================

  21. GBase has been written to complement the GameOn! and StrongGuard!
  22. applications from The ARM Club. With GameOn! installed users of the Acorn
  23. Risc PC are able to run many games which would otherwise not work and
  24. StrongGuard! additionally eases compatibility problems for owners of
  25. StrongARM processor cards.
  26.  
  27. In order to load the GBase application simply double click on the !GBase
  28. icon. GBase will then be installed on the icon bar. Clicking select over the
  29. GBase icon on the icon bar will open the main database window.
  30.  
  31. Clicking menu over the GBase window results in the database menu being
  32. displayed. To find a particular game or  application you can do one of four
  33. things. Firstly, you can drag an application icon to the  box in the bottom
  34. left corner of the window. Secondly, you can click on the search icon, or 
  35. select the Search option from the menu, and enter the name of the software
  36. that you are  looking for. Thirdly, you can step through the entries one by
  37. one using the double left and  right arrow icons and, finally, you can go to
  38. a specific record by selecting the Goto option  from the menu and entering a
  39. record number.

  41. To print a copy of the database, load !Printers (this can usually be found
  42. by clicking on the  hard disc icon and double clicking on the Printing
  43. directory in the window that appears on  the screen) and select the Print
  44. option from the database menu.
  45.  
  46. The comment field provides additional information about the compatibility of
  47. some  products. For example, if a game works without Game On! installed, but
  48. runs too fast, a note  to that effect will be shown in the comment field.
  49.  
  50. A few games require small modifications before they will work. If a game
  51. needs to be  modified before it will run and Game On! or StrongGuard! can
  52. carry out that modification, this will be  detailed in the comment field.
  53. Games are modified by dragging the application icon to the  box in the
  54. bottom right corner of the window.
  55.  
  56. NOTE : The ARM Club offers no Guarantee that the "Programs" file contained
  57.        within this application is correct in every detail.
  58.        Should you notice any errors within the data contained within the
  59.        database, please send details of them to The ARM Club's FREEPOST
  60.        address (at the bottom of this file) so as we may make the necessary
  61.        corrections.

  78. Track lengths can be added with the click of a mouse button and inlay cards
  79. can be generated for cassette copies. SmartCD+ has a flexible set of options
  80. to rival even the most expensive audio CD player.

  85. Type Tutor will take you through a series of carefully designed  excercises,
  86. introducing the basics of Touch Typing, progressing  to a selection of
  87. traditional typing excercises and onto a large  collection of resource files
  88. which can be added to by the user.
  89. TypeTutor is suitable for use with both Archimedes machines and the Risc PC.
